The Colorado Melanoma Foundation
OUR STORY
The Colorado Melanoma Foundation was incorporated in July, 2013 as an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in order to educate the public, support patient networks, encourage early detection and screening, and maintain current information on treatment options, sun protective behaviors, and recent developments in our global understanding on melanoma.
We began with the combined efforts of several passionate volunteers in the fields of Melanoma Research, Dermatology, and Law, to name a few. We have gained local recognition as the first and only Colorado local, melanoma-specific non-profit organization. Our community supporters, professional and private corporate partners, and friends/colleagues in Colorado have grown dramatically.
We continue to operate on a volunteer bases; every dollar raised by the foundation goes straight to our operations and outreach. There is no paid governing body, we do all the work ourselves, and maintain the highest levels of non-profit integrity, transparency, and ethics.
OUR MISSION
The Colorado Melanoma Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to promote melanoma awareness in Colorado by educating residents about melanoma skin cancer & sun-safe behavior, delivering preventative skin screening services, and providing support for current patients.

An Increased Risk
The Colorado Melanoma Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to promote melanoma awareness in Colorado by educating residents about melanoma skin cancer & sun-safe behavior, delivering preventative skin screening services, and providing support for current patients.
The Sun's harmful Ultraviolet (UV) Radiation damages skin cells, causing cancer. Coloradans are exposed to an excessive amount of UV due to our elevation, +300 days of sunshine, and love for the outdoors. As a result, we rank among the highest in the nation for skin cancer incidence and mortality rates

Educating the public on the warning signs of skin cancer and sun safe behavior
Sun protection and catching suspicious moles before they get worse is the best way to prevent melanoma. The CMF attends schools, community events, and corporate health fairs to spread this message
